[UPDATED] Eligibility Criteria For Joining Merchant Navy

One of the most exciting and highly paid profession is being an officer at merchant navy, recently Indian Maritime University has changed the eligibility criteria for joining merchant navy after +2. This recent changes shows that they are tilting towards more quality seamen for ships. Check out the table below for knowing the new eligibility criteria  for joining merchant navy in 2014.

B.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Eng.) Pass in HSC/10+2 from a recognized
board with 60% average PCM
(Valid IMU-CET Rank is Must)
25 Years
B.Tech (Marine Engineering) Pass in HSC/10+2 from a recognized
board with 60% average marks in PCM.

50% in English in either class X or XII.

(Valid IMU-CET Rank is Must)
25 Years
B.Sc (Nautical Science) Pass in HSC/10+2 from a recognized
board with 60% average marks in PCM.

50% in English in either class X or XII.

6/6 Eye sight is must.

(Valid IMU-CET Rank is Must)
25 Years
Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) Pass in HSC/10+2 from a recognized
board with 60% average marks in PCM.

50% in English in either class X or XII.

6/6 Eye sight is must.

(Valid IMU-CET Rank is Must)

G.P Ratings Pass in 10th with total average of 40%.
or
Pass in 2 year I.T.I Course from Govt.
Approved institute with min 50%
aggregate in final year.

40% marks in English is required
in either X or XII.

M.B.A (Port & Shipping Management)

M.B.A (International transportation & Logistics management)
Bachelors degree with more than 50%
marks or equivalent CGPA
(45% in case of SC/ST/DA categories.
